Data Converter Features Overview
The Data Converter is an application that reads in files and performs calculations and manipulations on the file data, prior to exporting the results in another format. The files can be text delimited or fixed length records, or they can be in other predefined data formats.
For quick and easy data formatting, a number of html templates can be easily applied for automatic web page generation. The data that is processed can also be graphed & emailed automatically. Hence allowing for the effortless automation of reports.

The Data Converter  also saves it's calculation and formatting rules separately from the data; allowing you to share these sets of rules with others!
And since Data Converter  works from a command line, you can also schedule it using Windows Scheduler.

Data Conversion
Read in standard delimited records e.g. comma separated values etc.
Read in variable delimited records e.g. First delimiter = “,”, second delimiter = “|||” etc.
Read in standard field length records e.g. all fields = 8 characters.
Read in variable field length records e.g. first field = 3 characters, second field = 8 characters.
Write out standard delimited records e.g. comma separated values etc.

Data modification
Add fields.

The ability to BIND (add, subtract, multiply & divide) data files together three dimensionally by the exact cell row & field number. E.g. Four separate files can have each of their individual cells added together to produce a total i.e. File 1 Cell A1 + File 2 Cell A1 + File 3 Cell A1 = File 4 Cell A1. This is particularly useful for users who receive daily or weekly files and have to aggregate them together.

For instance, if the value of first field in the first row in the first file is 20 & the value of first field in the first row in the second file is 1, then using The Data Converter bind function, these can be added together to produce an output file which has a value in the first field in the first row of the output file of 21.

Data Numeric Calculations
Rounds the field to a specified number of decimal places.
Calculation of fields: plus, minus divide & multiply.
Set Constants - add numeric or text variables (depending on the field type).

Add Power Rule. E.g. that is put the output field = to an input field to the power of 6.

Data Logic Calculations
Test if one field equals a specific value, if it does, then do not process this record.
Test if one field equals the same value in another field, if it does, then do not process this record.
Test if one field does not equal a specific value, if it does, then do not process this record.
Test if one field not equal the same value in another field, if it does, then do not process this record.
Test if one field is NULL, if it does, then do not process this record.

Data Formatting
Insert and remove characters in a field.
Reverse the contents of a field.
Search and replace field values.
Selecting a string of characters from a field.
Selecting specified character from a field - e.g. selecting the 4th character from the left.
Selecting 2 specified characters from a field - e.g. selecting characters 4 AND 8.
Selecting a selection of characters from a field - e.g. selecting the 4th to 8th characters (from the left = L,).
Concatenate strings.
Insert text header and footers before and after the data.
Insert HTML header and footers before and after the data.
Constants can also be inserted and replaced, allowing you to generate html or xml output.
